Crayon Rocks - 24 Colors
More colors, more possibilities. The Crayon Rocks 24 Color Set expands the classic pebble-shaped crayon palette with nature-inspired tree, flower, water, and wave tones—giving little artists (and grown-up ones!) even more room to create.
Originally designed by special education teacher Barbara Lee with guidance from occupational therapists, Crayon Rocks have a distinctive shape that encourages young children to use the tripod grip—the thumb-and-finger grasp they'll eventually use for pencils and handwriting.
With 24 rich, blendable colors, this larger collection grows right along with an artist, from early scribbles and broad strokes to colorful landscapes, seascapes, and more detailed drawings.

24 Colors Inspired by the World Around Us
This expanded Crayon Rocks collection goes beyond the basics with additional shades inspired by trees, flowers, water, and waves.
That broader palette gives artists more possibilities for drawing what they see around them—from forests and gardens to oceans, lakes, skies, and imaginary worlds.
The rich pigments can also be blended and layered, creating textured color reminiscent of oil pastels.
Why Are They Shaped Like Rocks?
The little pebble shape is at the heart of the Crayon Rocks story.
Founder Barbara Lee spent years as a special education teacher working with children who struggled with handwriting and fine motor control. Through her work with occupational therapists, she learned about the importance of developing a tripod grip—using the thumb, index finger, and middle finger to control a writing tool.
When she couldn't find a crayon designed around that skill, Barbara created one herself.
The compact shape naturally encourages little fingers to grasp and manipulate the crayon rather than wrapping the whole hand around a traditional stick crayon.
From First Scribbles to Tiny Masterpieces
One of the things we especially like about the 24-color set is that it doesn't have to be only a "little kid" art supply.
For younger children, the pebble shape offers a thoughtfully designed tool for coloring and experimenting with their hands.
As their artwork becomes more detailed, the expanded colors and blendable texture offer more opportunities to explore shading, landscapes, flowers, water, and whatever else they can imagine.
And there's no rule saying adults can't steal a few for their own sketchbook.
