Crayon Rocks - To Go Box

Little crayons designed with growing hands in mind. The Crayon Rocks To Go Box turns coloring into a portable, screen-free activity while the unique pebble-shaped crayons encourage children to use the tripod grip they'll eventually use for handwriting.

Created by special education teacher Barbara Lee with guidance from occupational therapists, Crayon Rocks were designed after Barbara saw children struggling with handwriting and fine motor control. Their distinctive shape naturally encourages children to grasp the crayon with their thumb, index, and middle fingers rather than holding it in a fist.

The To Go Box takes that thoughtful design on the road with 8 colorful Crayon Rocks, a 100-page mini art pad, and a sturdy storage box that's easy to bring along for trips, restaurants, waiting rooms, or visits to Grandma's house.

Why Are They Shaped Like Rocks?

That little pebble shape isn't just cute—it's the whole idea behind Crayon Rocks.

Founder Barbara Lee spent years as a special education teacher working with children who struggled with handwriting and fine motor control. With guidance from occupational therapists, she learned the importance of developing a strong tripod grip—using the thumb, index finger, and middle finger to control a writing tool.

Barbara couldn't find a crayon specifically designed around that skill, so she created one.

After years of testing and refinement, Crayon Rocks were born. Their small shape naturally encourages little fingers into a tripod-style grasp while children simply do what kids do best: play, draw, color, and create.

Small Crayons, Thoughtful Materials

Crayon Rocks are made from natural soy wax and non-toxic minerals without paraffin oil.

They're also designed to be remarkably durable despite their small size, with approximately the same amount of wax as a standard stick crayon.
